Joseph Nyambura – So, some of my friends have essay-writing websites. I am not a consultant, but some have asked me to review their websites and give them feedback.

Just to clarify, I offer auditing services, and I have conducted around six audits this year.

I noticed that most of them usually focus on the aesthetics of these websites.

I’m not saying that the look and feel are unimportant, but they overlook crucial marketing features that you should consider the next time you hire a developer to build a website for you.

AUTOMATED ORDER PIPELINE

I am a very lazy person, lol, so I believe in automation. I want robots to work for me while I watch movies on the couch.

Your website should have an automated order pipeline where clients can place orders without your help.

This pipeline should be able to redirect clients to the next web pages once they complete one task.

A complete automated order pipeline should have the following:

  1. Relevant and clear CTA buttons.

  2. Order details submission forms.

  3. Customer details submission forms.

  4. At least two payment gateways.

  5. Ability to generate receipts and follow-up emails/sales recovery funnel (I won’t dwell much on this since it’s where the money is, and most of them do not have this feature).

  6. Customer data collection.

  7. Upselling, cross-selling, and downselling.

Now, let’s delve into the power of follow-up and order payment confirmation emails.

a) Payment Confirmation Emails/Receipts:

Your website should be able to generate these payment confirmation emails once the customer has made a payment. Over 90% of customers read these receipts.

This is where you can upsell your services to clients. Essay writing has many areas, so you can take advantage of this opportunity. For example, if a client has bought an essay, inform them at the bottom of the receipt that you also offer online classes and group discussions. Include a clear call-to-action (CTA) to direct them to the upsold services.

b) Sales Recovery Funnel/Follow-up Emails:

Some clients may place an order but not complete the payment. Your order pipeline should generate at least three follow-up emails at specific intervals.

Use these emails to recover the sale by convincing the customer to complete the purchase. The first email should be sent after an hour to remind them that they placed an order but haven’t made the payment. The second email should be sent after around 12 hours, informing them that you still have their order and writers on standby. The third email should be sent after approximately 24 hours, offering a discount as a downsell.

Your system should be able to cancel the sales recovery funnel if the client completes the order after receiving follow-up emails.

c) Offers Emails:

Your system should regularly send offers to your clients. Take note of important days in the US calendar, such as the 4th of July, and send relevant offers. Also, remind clients of your essay writing services when school starts again. Consider sending offers to celebrate your company’s anniversary.

CUSTOMER DATA COLLECTION

This is important if you’re planning to run a marketing campaign.

Integrate Facebook Pixel and Google Retargeting Tag into your website.

You can use the collected data to run remarketing campaigns, which are cost-effective. I have a special interest in Facebook Pixel; it’s a powerful tool.

Each person has a digital footprint, and people on Facebook have almost similar digital footprints. When you collect data using Facebook Pixel, you can automatically expand your remarketing audience. For example, if you’ve made 1000 sales, Facebook will record those sales and generate an audience of 500k people using the digital footprints of those 1k
