amount of institutions and organizations are embracing principles of
inclusion, equity, justice, and diversity. This week you are exploring
your own cultural competency. The purpose of this is not only to be able
to better support families, it is also to inspire you to create your
own professional diversity statement. A diversity statement is a short
personal narrative that may be required as part of a formal job
application process. In some industries and professions (e.g.,
education, nonprofit, and government agencies, etc.), the diversity
statement may be required and reviewed by the hiring manager or hiring
committee. In short, the diversity statement fits into the broader
application materials which include a cover letter, a resume, and any
additional writing samples, lesson plans, or sample projects/proposals.
Prepare:

Write:
Create a professional diversity statement, which can be a short paragraph to one page.
