Utilize the “identify your stereotypes worksheet” to complete this assignment. Your answers to the “identify your stereotypes worksheet” are private and do not need to be shared. However, we can look at general patterns of responses. In a short, two-page paper, discuss the following questions.

1. Looking at the social categories, how many were you a member of? Of those to which you belong, were your responses generally positive or negative?
2. Of the social categories to which you do not belong, were the responses more negative than the categories to which you belong? Can you apply the in-group/out-group concept discussed in Chapter 2 to this pattern?
3. Were there any social categories that you had trouble identifying characteristics/stereotypes/behaviors? If yes, why? (Think about the concepts of accessibility and personal exposure discussed in Chapter 2.)

When looking at your characteristics/stereotypes/behaviors answers, did any surprise you? Said another way, did you identify any personal stereotypes that you were previously unaware that you possessed? Now that you are aware of them, will you be more mindful when making social judgments?
