Part 1: Written Portion (Visual Aid)

Create a one-page visual aid, infographic, chart, table, or summary document that includes the following:

Your visual aid should include all information requested in Steps 1–5 below. Think of this document as both a summary of your work and the visual aid for your presentation. It should clearly show your client profile, poverty and ALICE analysis, eligibility findings, unmet needs, and social work reflection in an organized and easy-to-follow format.

Step 1: Create Your Client

Develop a realistic client scenario. You may use your own imagination or AI as a brainstorming tool, but the final client profile should be your own work.

Areas to include:

• Fictitious client name
• Age
• Household composition (those living in the home)
• Employment status
• Monthly/annual income
• Housing situation (rent/own)
• Transportation needs
• Childcare needs (if applicable)
• Medical needs
• Any additional circumstances that may impact financial stability

Step 2: Analyze Your Client's Financial Situation

Using the resources and text readings provided in this Unit:

1. Determine whether your client falls within the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), ALICE population, or neither.
2. Compare your client's income to the ALICE Survival Budget for a household of similar size.
3. Describe how well your client would be able to meet basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, healthcare, childcare, and other necessary expenses.

Support your work through in-text citations (text, resources).

Step 3: Explore Available Supports

Using the Benefits CheckUp and SNAP eligibility tools:

1. Identify at least two programs, benefits, or services for which your client may qualify.
2. Briefly explain how each program could assist your client.

Step 4: Identify Remaining Gaps

Even with employment and available assistance programs:

1. What unmet needs remain?
2. What barriers continue to impact your client's well-being?
3. What challenges could place your client at risk for continued poverty or financial instability?

Step 5: Social Work Reflection

As a future social worker, reflect on the following:

1. Do you believe your client has a realistic opportunity not only to survive, but to thrive? Why or why not?
2. What does your client's situation reveal about the strengths and limitations of current social welfare programs and policies?
